In the past few months I’ve been working hard to get a few books completed and published on the Kindle store. The Barrier is the very first one out the door.
The Barrier is a novella. It should be a pretty quick read, between 4-6 hours for the average reader. It sets up the world that our protagonists live in; a world where the “the final war” (is there ever a final war?) has happened, and humanity is rebuilding. But the story I’m telling isn’t the story of the war (yet). It’s the story of James Novak.
James Novak is an ex-soldier, and he likes to live in the real world. Almost everyone else prefers to upboard themselves permanently into the virtual. When James’ girlfriend decides to upboard and leave him behind, he finds himself caught up in a strange conspiracy.
The Grid AI is alive and working against humanity. To succeed in it’s machinations, it must eliminate the shadow conspiracy and everyone attached to it.
Can James uncover the plot he’s been pulled into?
Can he remain human, even as he’s torn from his own body?
